We as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Police School Directorate hope you are well.
We have a great honour to announce that 6th Annual INTERPA Conference will be held on 28-30 March of 2017 (27 March: Arrivals, 31 March: Departures) hosted by our organization at Merit Royal Hotel Girne, North Cyprus (www.merithotels.com).
Merit Royal Hotel is a five star with a fascinating view of the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains. Knowing the details of your flights, we will do our best to bring any inconveniences to a minimum. All our valuable guests will be met at ERCAN (ECN) Airport upon their arrival and will be escorted to the Hotel. Unfortunately, we have not received most of the participants' flight details yet. Could all the participants make sure that they have registered their flight details on the official webpage of INTERPA until the date of Tuesday 21st of March 2017?
Furthermore, due to the commence of the printing processes please make sure that your names, surnames, titles and name of institutions have been correctly registered to the 6th INTERPA Conference Registration Section.
The official opening of the conference is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. The activities extend over three days which combine between academic sessions and official visits which will be clearly specified in the conference programme we will send sooner.
• Travel & Country Information
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has an international airport which is ERCAN (ECN) Airport near Lefkoşa. All flights into North Cyprus (ERCAN Airport) have to touch down, in transit, at any airport in Turkey (İstanbul, İzmir, Antalya). We suggest that you, just as a precaution, put stickers of your country flag on your suitcases so that you won't experience any difficulties at ERCAN Airport.
A valid passport is required.
In order for everything to go smoothly as planned we have set up a 'What's up' group. This will allow us to finalise your inquiries with no mistake and be in touch with you during your travel to North Cyprus. • Weather & Climate
North Cyprus boasts a Mediterranean Climate, with hot summers and mild winters. The beach holiday season typically starts in April and lasts into November, although the weather is mild all year round, and usually dry and sunny even in the deepest of winter. The average day time temperature during the Conference days will be around 25 C.
Turkish is the official language of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. On the other hand, English is widely spoken as a second language. The language of the Conference will be English.
• Time Zone
North Cyprus time is 3 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+3h). No changes, UTC+3hours all of the period. This time zone is in use during Standard time in: Asia, Europe.
• Currency and Money Exchange
The local currency is the Turkish Lira (fc). Major credit cards are widely accepted. There are no foreign Exchange restrictions in place in the country, banks and Money Exchange offices can be found throughout North Cyprus city centres. All major hotels are also willingly Exchange currency for visitors. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are available at most bank branches and various locations, including nearby the Hotel.
• Electric Current:
Power is supplied at 220/240 V AC, 50 Hz and wall fittings generally the U.K. square three- pin type.
• Official Visits
There will be two courtesy calls and only the presidents of the committees are expected to attend.
1. The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
2. The President of the Assembly.
